§ 3 What are Cookies and What is Their Purpose? What are Cookies? Cookies (also “cookies”) are IT data sent by the website and stored on users’ end devices such as computers, phones, or tablets. Cookies typically come in text format. The data contained in cookies allows the user’s device to be recognized and the website displayed accordingly. Based on the information in the cookies, the website is tailored to the technical specifications of your device. This way, it can adjust its appearance to the screen size and the type and version of the web browser. Cookies also enable the personalization of website functionalities according to individual user needs. For example, they allow the website to be displayed by default in the user’s language. Cookies generally contain the name of the website they come from, the time of storage on the end device, and a unique number.
What is the purpose of cookies? Below we present typical functionalities supported by the information used by cookies.
Provide data on the technical specifications of the end device – e.g., computer, phone, or tablet to adjust the website’s appearance. This ensures they function correctly regardless of the type, model, and version of the device and software used by the user.
Allow the customization of website functionalities to the user’s needs. For example, they enable the selection of preferred language, notifications, or advertisements.
Enable the optimization of website usage. They save information regarding user choices about ad profiling, language settings, browser used, notifications, etc. This way, the user configures the website only once – instead of every time they visit the site.
Facilitate logging into the user account. They allow moving between subpages on the websites without having to log in again on each subpage separately.
Serve as an additional security layer preventing access by unauthorized persons.
Allow the collection of statistical data based on which administrators improve their websites. They can concern, e.g., the amount of time spent on the site or the frequency with which users use different functionalities. The information collected this way is then used to improve the structure and content of websites.
In some cases, cookies facilitate the identification of users whose behavior contains the characteristics of prohibited acts.
Provide data to ensure the fine-tuning and smooth functioning of websites. For example, they allow traffic analysis and detection of anomalies such as distributed denial-of-service attacks (DDoS).
Enable the delivery of personalized ads. They collect statistics regarding the user’s interaction with displayed ads, purchase history, and search history. Based on this, ads for products and services that are more likely to attract the user’s attention can be displayed.
§ 4 Do Cookies Contain Personal Data? Cookies rarely contain personal data. The information stored in them usually does not allow for the identification of individual website users. However, in some cases, they may enable user identification – this applies, e.g., to cookies remembering login or payment data. In other situations, cookies may facilitate user identification by creating their profile. A profile is a set of information that allows a user to be classified based on their specific characteristics – e.g., how they use the website. This is called indirect identification.
§ 5 What Cookies Do We Use? Below we present an overview of the cookies we use on the CamelExpert website. We also inform you about the legal grounds for placing cookies on your devices and the consequences of blocking the operation of a particular type of cookie.
Type of Cookies: Essential Purpose: These files are technically necessary for the correct functioning of the website or the functionality the user intends to use. A website that lacks these files will display incorrectly – it may, for example, be too large or unreadable. Legal basis for data processing: The realization of this purpose is our legitimate legal interest. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR in conjunction with Art. 173(3)(2) of the Act of 16 July 2004 Telecommunications Law. Consequences of using cookies: The storage of these files is necessary for the website to function. If you object to the storage of such cookies on your device or delete them, the website may not function properly in technical terms. For example, it may display incorrectly, and some basic functions may be inactive.
Type of Cookies: Functional Purpose: Improve the quality of using the website by enriching it with additional functionalities. A website without these files will work correctly, but it will not be tailored to the user’s preferences. Legal basis for data processing: Functional cookies are used solely based on your consent. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR in conjunction with Art. 173(1) and (2) of the Act of 16 July 2004 Telecommunications Law. Consequences of using cookies: If you do not consent to the storage of these types of cookies, the website will retain only basic technical functionality, but its additional functions will be inactive.
Type of Cookies: Business Purpose: We will collect anonymous statistical data to improve our website. This will enhance its appearance and usability and improve optimization. We will examine how you use the website to present you with more relevant ads. This way, you can receive information about products and services that we think might interest you. Blocking these files does not negatively affect the website’s operation or reduce its functionality. However, it will prevent the owner from gaining profits from the website’s activity. Legal basis for data processing: Business cookies are used solely based on your consent. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR in conjunction with Art. 173(1) and (2) of the Act of 16 July 2004 Telecommunications Law. Consequences of using cookies: Consent to the placement of business cookies, including marketing and statistical ones, is voluntary. By blocking this type of cookie, you will not suffer any negative consequences. We will not be able to collect anonymous analytical data needed to adapt our website to new devices, software versions, and user usage methods. Additionally, we will not be able to show you personalized ads – i.e., those we believe will interest you the most. These are selected based on information about your online activity, including search results and history, clicks, or the time spent viewing specific ads. We will still display ads to you. The difference is that they will be random instead of selected based on information about your online activity.
§ 6 Tracking Technologies The website uses the following tracking technologies from external providers:
Google Analytics – a tool provided by Google Ireland Limited. Google Analytics collects information about the user’s visits to the website to generate statistics on the website’s functioning and enable the analysis of website activity to better tailor the offer and website to user needs. Generally, the information collected via Meta Pixel is anonymous – not allowing user identification. However, the Administrator informs that Meta Platforms may combine the collected information with other user data collected as part of the user’s use of the service (Meta Platform) and use it for its purposes, including marketing. More about the tool can be read on the provider’s page: https://www.facebook.com/business/tools/meta-pixel and about Meta Platforms’ data processing rules available at: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/?entry_point=data_policy_redirect&entry=0

However, remember that deleting or disabling them may affect the website’s operation – they may limit its functionality (see § 5). We will not install functional and business cookies on your end devices until you give consent. After withdrawing consent, we will not install cookies on your end devices until you consent again. If cookies are not essential for the proper functioning of the website, we will ask the user for consent to their use during the first visit (or after they have been cleared by the user). We will not remove already installed cookies. You can do this yourself via the cookie management panel available on the homepage – the “Manage Cookies” tab.
